Shame on you if you stayed home! We had a nice match and it stayed dry all day. We had 27 shooters and 6 re-shoots for a total of 33 guns. Thanks to the set up crew: Mark Weigle, Jeff Whitaker, Dennis Dushney, Michael Martin, John Landon, Bill Attamante, Ed Henry and Bud Connolly. And to the Tear Down crew: Joe and Andy Blazek, Don Helwick, Vaughn Platt, Vern Moore, Chris Nook, Jeff Whitaker, Bill Attamante, Ed Henry and Bud Connolly. Apologies in advance if I missed you on the crew lists, but everyone knows how good I am at remembering names. <G>

The setup for our next match will be on Saturday, July 10th starting at 2:00 PM. Then you are welcome to shoot one gun. This is great if you have plans for Sunday morning. And remember, the more help we get, the sooner we get done and go to dinner.

Here's the schedule for this summer at Crooked Creek.

Sunday, July 11

Sunday, August 8

Sunday, August 29 - Annual Revolver Friendly Match

Saturday, September 11

Sunday, October 10 - Party after the match

If you have any Revolver friendly stages, get them to me at an upcoming match, or e-mail them to me. I will use the best submitted, or come up with some of my own brand of foolishness, at the Annual Revolver match on August 29th.

This month's Public Service Announcements:

Those of you who are members of Crooked Creek Conservation Club, there is a work detail every Tuesday night starting around 4:30 PM to build the covers over the rifle range benches and to complete the benches on the 200 yard line. Don't everyone volunteer on the same night, but help would be appreciated. Don't forget to tell the trustee running the show, that you are a pistol club shooter. The club needs to know that we are pitching in to help improve the shooting facilities.

If you are a NRA Certified Instructor for Basic Pistol and would like to help teach a CCW class at Crooked Creek for the members, let me know. Or if you would like to become a NRA Certified Instructor in Basic Pistol, let me know. Just as an incentive, at least Geauga County, will accept the Basic Pistol Instructor class to meet the Ohio CCW Training requirement. Crooked Creek may be willing to pick up the cost of training for a commitment to teach classes at CCCC. I have received a list of Training Counselors in the area and will be looking for one that can teach a class of at least 10 new instructors. I would like to get this class going this summer if I can find an available Training Counselor. At the latest, this class will be held in October, if we can get enough students.

Also, the club needs to know that the pistol shooters do things to help the club, not just come out once a month and shoot the match. The club spent about $25,000 to put in the pistol bays and move the rifle ranges. And they are spending about $2000 more to put in the benches and covers on the rifle range. Teaching CCW classes, or helping out during the class range exercise time, would be a good way to thank the club for the new pistol bays.

If you are a member of Crooked Creek Conservation Club and would like to take the CCW class on July 31st and August 7th (consecutive Saturday's), I am starting to get the class together. I have been given the go ahead by the club trustees to make this class happen. But, I need commitments from at least 20 club members to do it. Let me know, or a club trustee, if you would be able to attend class on two consecutive Saturdays, for about 6 hours each day, probably 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM with lunch provided. If you don't have your Green badge yet, the next class is June 13th, or July 11th at 2:00 PM and takes about 1 1/2 hours to complete.
