We snuck another one in. There were some rumbles on Sunday afternoon, but the worst of the weather passed just north of the range. But the heat (first 90 degree day this year) did put a damper on reshoots. We had  58 shooters and 17 reshoots for a total of 75 guns.

Here's the breakdown by division.

I had to change the results because I screwed up when I read one of the scores. EzWinScore found that not enough rounds were fired, so I checked, only part way. I found 6 misses in the Steel line and added 6 Mikes to the score. EzWinScore was happy, so was I. Shooter involved asked me how did he get 8 misses. I don't know, let's check. Sure enough, there were also 6 A hits on the Steel line. The other error was that the scorekeeper did not add in the 6 A's for Steel into the A total. My fault for not looking at the whole score sheet.

So, the person(s) that keeps using the Mike column for whatever reason other than misses, PLEASE STOP DOING THAT! I have caught errors where the steel score is placed there before, I missed it this time. I have also seen where the scorekeeper writes in the total rounds for the stage instead of circling the total rounds at the right end of the line. Please stop using the Mike column for miscellaneous scribbling. Every once in awhile those errors get through.

Other than that, the scorekeepers did just OK this month, I had to add up the scores quite a few times. (see above why that is not helping) If the scorekeepers can add the scores and remember to circle the Procedurals and No Shoot penalties, I can get the scores posted on Sunday night. Also, if the scores are added up and the shooter reviews the scoresheet (make sure that your hits add up and that the time is recorded) we should be able to avoid those dreaded DNF stages and extra Mikes.

We had six (6) new shooters this month: Phil Baird, James VanAllen, Ian Lewis, David Lane, John Farnsworth and Dale Needham Sr.

If you now see a U for your classification, then maybe your membership has lapsed. USPSA has instituted a new policy. If you let your membership lapse for more than 60 days, you will lose your classification. If you want to keep your classification, please keep your membership current. Remember, if you sign up for (or renew) a USPSA membership at the match, you can shoot the match for free (that's like getting your USPSA membership for $25).

For the new members, when you receive your first issue of Front Sight, use the PIN on the cover to sign up to receive an e-mail notification when results are posted to the USPSA Local and Major Match results page. Our results are always posted to the USPSA Local Match Results first. It takes a little while to massage the junk HTML pages that come out of EzWinScore.

Don't forget to let me know when you change your membership type. I had two RO's change their membership and I found out when I went to update the classifications. That just slows down the process to post the scores. I have to stop and get confirmation of the membership number changes.

We also have Crooked Creek Conservation Club applications. Ask Bill, Ed or myself for one if you are interested in joining. We hold a pistol practice on Wednesday evening starting about 4:00 PM for members.

Our next match will be on Sunday, July 18^th (Third Sunday!) at Crooked Creek in Hartsgrove. This will be a Special Classifier match so that everyone going to the Western PA Section Championship at Gem City will be classified. Setup will be on Saturday, July 17^th starting at 1:30 PM. You can shoot one gun after setup. And we will continue the practice of running one classifier each match. Now, you don't have any reason not to be classified before that big match.

Signups for Sunday start at 7:30AM. We will run two (2) squads on Sunday at 8:00 AM and 11:00 AM. Please arrive in time to register, gear-up and be ready to shoot at 8:00AM. I will try to design the stages to keep us on schedule so that you don't have to wait for the second squad. The last squad will help with teardown.
