August 12, 2007 Newsletter

We got a little rain on Sunday, just enough to scare the scorekeeper under the tent twice. We had a pretty good turnout, sending 41 shooters out in the first squad kept the RO's pretty busy. All together we had 59 shooters and 13 reshoots for a total of 72 guns. 

We had 4 new shooters this month: Marc Wescott, Robert Phillips, Rich Mead and Josh Martin.

If you sign up for (or renew) USPSA membership at the match, you can shoot the match for free (that's like getting your USPSA membership for $25). For the new members, when you receive your first issue of Front Sight, use the PIN on the cover to sign up to receive e-mail notification when results are posted to the USPSA Local and Major Match results page. Our results are always posted to the USPSA Local Match Results first. It takes a little while to massage the HTML pages that come out of EzWinScore. USPSA has updated the Classifiers for August. New USPSA members, please check your classifications.

We also have Crooked Creek Conservation Club applications. Ask Bill, Ed or myself for one if you are interested in joining. We hold a pistol practice on Wednesday evening starting about 4:00 PM for members.

Lost & Found: 

1. Travel coffee mug with a Green Spartans helmet (Michigan State?).
2. Two 45 ACP mags and box of S&B 45 AUTO FMJ (8 roounds).

Our next match will be on Sunday, September 9th at Crooked Creek in Hartsgrove. Setup will be on Saturday, September 8th starting at 2:30 PM. The club is having a Clam Bake on Saturday, so we can not close both pistol bays until 4:00 PM. Also, we can not shoot after 5:00 PM. So, we'll setup starting at 2:30 PM if I get enough confirmed help. Please e-mail me if you are willing to setup on Saturday without shooting. If we don't have enough help, we'll have to setup on Sunday morning starting at 7:00 AM and we'll start shooting when we're ready.

Signups for Sunday start at 7:30AM. We will run up to three squads on Sunday at 8:00 AM, 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM. We'll only run the 1:00 PM squad if we have at least 12 shooters signed up. Please arrive in time to get into a squad. The last squad will help with teardown.

The Ohio Section Match will be held at Circleville, OH on September 1 & 2. Application
